Record number of consumer bankruptcies

Record number of consumer bankruptcies

The number of consumer bankruptcies last year was record-breaking.

Last year, nearly 13,000 people were declared bankrupt.

This is over 60% more than in 2019.

This result is an effect of the coronavirus pandemic. Such conclusions are drawn by experts, adding that, according to assumptions, decisions on consumer bankruptcy were made mainly by people who had financial problems before the pandemic, and the pandemic simply aggravated these difficulties.

They also suspect that if it were not for the public aid offered under anti-crisis shields, this number would be even greater.

They forecast that the year 2021 should not be full of such large numbers in terms of declaring consumer bankruptcies.
